Frequently Asked Questions
Please reach us at nurturementalhealth@outlook.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
What is counselling?
Counselling is a Talking Therapy which involves speaking to a trained professional about your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. It is a safe space to explore yourself, explore complicated issues and make positive changes in your life, if you want to. One of our Blogs explains more about Counselling. What is counselling? How do sessions work?
Sessions are offered in a supportive, confidential setting and can take place online via video, by phone, or face-to-face.
What happens at a session?
At the first session you will be asked some questions to help us to understand how we can best help you, and we will explain how we work. On-going sessions will then focus on the topics that you want to talk about as you explore your feelings. Each session lasts around 50 minutes.
Who is counselling for?
Counselling can help everyone! We believe it is important to invest time in your mental health now to prevent mental ill health later on. We specialise in helping people who feel held back in some way; with issues such as low self-esteem, lack of confidence or through life issues which have prevented them from being the best they can be, both in their career and personal life. See our blog for more info: Will Counselling Help Me?
How do I book?
You can book a session from this website by clicking on the ‘Book a Session’ button, or get in touch if you would like to ask a question before arranging your first appointment.
What does BACP mean?
BACP is the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy, which is the professional association for members of the counselling professions in the UK. It holds a register of therapists qualified to practice and its members must adhere to strict ethical guidelines to protect clients. It is important when choosing a therapist to ensure they are a member of a professional body, such as the BACP, to ensure you are receiving a safe service. All our therapists are members of the BACP, so you can be sure you are in good hands.
Where are sessions available?
We offer face-to-face counselling in Middlesbrough during the daytime. We are based at Nunthorpe Wellness Centre, 87 Guisborough Road, Nunthorpe, TS7 0JS. We also offer online video sessions to make accessing therapy more convenient for you. These sessions are normally weekly at a time that works for you.
